The state is in so deep that any solutions, assuming they are even achievable, will take years, maybe even a decade. But it’s beyond debate that Illinois can’t keep doing what it’s been doing and have any hope of better days ahead.
That’s why it’s less important that Illinois have a budget than a plan to make future budgets mean what they actually say.
Comment: And if anybody thinks s passing a budget means the spending cuts will be eliminated, they simply haven’t looked at the numbers. Austerity is here to stay until we get growth and reform.
