Comment: This may or may not be a good idea, but there’s plenty of irony here. It’s  an example of how corporations reduce tax payments by doing what they are incented to do for economic or social policy reasons. Incentives like this get pushed on the one hand, then on the other we hear the complaint about corporations paying too little tax because of “loopholes.”

And there’s a real question about whether tax incentives work at all. On that, no less than Austan Goolsby, Obama’s first economic policy advisor, wrote his PhD thesis on why they don’t work.
