The top 18 percent of Illinois taxpayers cover more than 60 percent of the state’s income taxes, and the state’s millionaires pay 15 percent of Illinois’ income taxes. Illinois lawmakers must spurn tax proposals that would drive more of these high-income people out of the state.

Excellent article. The intent of the graduated income tax is to segregate the so-called “monied” folks from the majority of tax filers so you can tax them into oblivion without worrying about your voter block. Anyone who thinks this will stop at millionaires or that rates won’t jump for folks making over $50K eventually doesn’t know our Legislature very well. Call their bluff…make them add a “diminishment or impairment” clause on their proposed rates, meaning rates can never go higher. Then you will see their true intent.
