The Sun-Times somehow discovered a potential $200 million hit Chicago could take under a ‘swap’ transaction the Daley administration executed. It’s Tuesday story by Dan Mihalopoulos was thoroughly researched and explained the problem in an understandable way.

But let’s not get carried away with praise for the Sun-Times on its coverage of government fiscal issues. Its editorial writers seem to have no understanding of pensions and are usually on the wrong side of reform proposals. It’s Springfield news coverage is often biased, frequently taking cheap shots at people like Rauner and, this week, his running mate.
